If you’re heading to a surf and yoga retreat Bali, packing smart can make your trip smoother and more enjoyable. Preparing for a trip is part of the journey, it can be very exciting but it can also cause stress and frustration if you don’t know what to prepare. Avoid “I wish I had” following our tips below and remember to have fun packing your luggage and set your mindset! For a memorable experience, choosing the best surf camp Bali is a great first step

1. Know the climate & season
This is the base! you cannot prepare for a surf and yoga retreat without having first checked the season and climate. Bali has its pros and cons in every season, but you have to be prepared for it as the weather can be very different.
- Dry season (May–Sept) = sunny, smaller chance of rain, consistent waves.
- Wet season (Oct–Apr) = warmer, more humid, occasional heavy showers.
The good thing is that Bali is one of the few destinations in the world that offers waves all year long, so you can decide any season to book your trip and you won’t have problems. Most of the surf camps Bali will drive you to different beaches depending on the season and waves condition.
In any case we suggest you pack light fabrics as the weather is mostly warm, but a rain jacket is always a good choice as Bali likes to surprise us 😉
2. Surf essentials
Most surf schools in Canggu and other areas of Bali will provide you with all the necessary equipment for surfing, but if you have your own you are welcome to bring it.
A small waterproof bag is a lifesaver for carrying your essentials from the beach to the camp. Don’t forget a reef-safe sunscreen (high SPF) and be careful the sun in Bali is very strong, consider also bringing a zinc sunscreen for your face, it’s a lifesaver for long surf sessions under the Bali sun. Don’t worry if you don’t have it you will be able to buy it in any surf shop around Bali.

3. Yoga essentials
Morning and evening yoga is a key part of any surf retreat in Bali, helping your body recover and stretch. Breathable fabrics will keep you comfortable through both sunrise flows and evening yin sessions. At surf camp Bali they will provide yoga mats but if you already practice yoga and want to pack your travel-friendly yoga mat you are welcome to do so.
Consider bringing a light shawl; it may be useful during the Shavasana in the evening.

4. Clothing & Day-to-Day Items
Even if you stay in the best surf camp Bali, you will surely spend some free time exploring the surroundings, temples, rice fields, restaurants and maybe beach clubs.
These are the musts in your luggage:
- Light cotton/linen clothing for warm days.
- Light sweater or jacket for cooler evenings.
- Sandals/flip-flops + one pair of sneakers.
- Small backpack for day trips.
There are some app like PackPoint that will help you organize your pack in a smart way avoiding forgetting important stuff, including important documents like passport and visa, yes remember that to enter Bali you need to apply for a visa! this is the official website where to do it: https://evisa.imigrasi.go.id/ Yes, you can also do it on arrival at the airport, but listen to us, do it in advance and avoid long waiting at the airport 😉
5. Health & Safety
Bali is generally very safe for travelers, and is a good choice for your first solo trip, but a small first-aid kit and a reusable water bottle can make life easier and healthier. Like the rest of Asia, Bali is also dealing with plastic pollution, so bringing your own water bottle to refill at the surf camp will help the island battle against plastic.
Don’t forget all the travel documents, your travel insurance and any personal medication (if you need some special medications, consider bringing a medical receipt with you in case you need to buy more).

6. Extras for an even better trip
Part of the magic of a surf and yoga retreat in Bali is the time you spend off the mat and away from the waves, bring something that feeds your soul.
- GoPro or waterproof camera.
- Journal for notes and reflections.
- Airpods or headphones when you need some rhythm.
- Books or ebooks for downtime

7. Prepare your mindset
Packing isn’t just about clothes and gear, it’s also about arriving with the right state of mind. A surf and yoga retreat Bali is as much a mental journey as it is a physical one.
- Be open to trying new things: from standing on a surfboard for the first time to practicing sunset meditation.
- Leave behind expectations and comparisons; your progress is your own.
- Make space in your days for slowing down, this isn’t a trip to “do more,” but a chance to feel more.
Bali is a powerful island, arriving with the right mindset will help you get the maximum benefit out of this trip.
In general, remember to pack light, anywhere in Bali you will be able to get laundry for a very cheap price, so better to leave more space for experience and maybe some shopping 😉
Now that you know how to pack, the only thing left is to start your countdown. If you’re looking for a soulful surf and yoga retreat Bali, stay tuned as we prepare to open our doors soon.
