ABOUT BALI

Do I need a visa to travel to Bali?

Most travelers can enter Bali with a Visa on Arrival, valid for 30 days and renewable once. It’s a simple process available at the airport or online before arrival. We recommend checking your specific country’s visa requirements before departure, as policies may change.

No mandatory vaccinations are required to enter Indonesia, but we suggest consulting your doctor or travel clinic for personalized advice — especially if you plan to visit rural areas.

Tap water is not recommended for drinking. We provide filtered water stations at Kavo Maison to keep you safe, hydrated, and plastic-free throughout your stay.

There are many international-standard clinics and pharmacies nearby, open 24/7 and easy to access. In case of emergency, we’re here to help organize transport and support you.

Yes! We provide scooters rentals for our guests, and taxis or ride apps like Grab are widely available. If you prefer not to drive, we can help arrange transport anytime.

The local currency is the Indonesian Rupiah (IDR). ATMs and currency exchange services are easy to find near our retreat, and most shops and restaurants accept cards.

Travel insurance is mandatory for all guests at KavoMaison. It should cover medical emergencies, trip cancellations, lost baggage, and more.  Please note that we cannot take responsibility for any loss, damage, or injury during your stay. Better to travel protected.

surfing in Bali is generally very safe. Shark encounters in Bali are extremely rare, and the species found here — like blacktip and whitetip reef sharks — are generally shy and not dangerous to humans. By following basic ocean safety (like avoiding areas with fishing activity), you can enjoy the waves with peace of mind.

Bali Belly is a mild form of traveler’s diarrhea, usually caused by changes in diet or exposure to unfamiliar bacteria. It’s quite common among first-time travelers to Southeast Asia, but also easy to avoid with a few simple precautions:

  • Drink only filtered or bottled water (never from the tap)

  • Eat at clean, reputable places

  • Start slow with spicy or unfamiliar foods

  • Wash your hands regularly and use hand sanitizer

At Kavo Maison, we provide filtered water throughout the property and prepare meals with strict hygiene standards to keep you feeling your best.

We offer daily surf lessons, except 1 day off, to allow for rest and exploration.

Each session lasts approximately 2 hours, including warm-up, instruction, and in-water practice.

We maintain small group sizes, typically 4 to 7 students, ensuring personalized attention with a maximum 3:1 student-to-instructor ratio.

At Kavo Maison Surf & Yoga, we adjust our surf sessions based on the season and daily conditions, so you’ll always catch the best waves.

Yes — the minimum age to join our retreat is 18. While we welcome guests of all adult ages, our space is designed especially for those seeking a more relaxed, mindful, and community-driven experience.
We tend to attract solo travelers, couples, and small groups in their late 20s to 40s+ who are looking for connection, calm, and conscious living — far from the party scene.

If you book a spot in one of our shared rooms, you’ll be placed with like-minded guests in a relaxed and respectful setting. Prefer your own space? You can always choose a private room for total comfort and privacy. The choice is yours!

Surf sessions are part of our all-inclusive surf&yoga package, but you’re free to join as much or as little as you like. There’s no discount for skipping surf, but you can book our wellness&yoga package instead.

Our cultural experiences vary throughout the year and may include joining traditional Balinese ceremonies, visiting sacred temples, experiencing healing rituals, practicing journaling and mindfulness, enjoying Balinese dance and music, or walking through rice fields. Each activity is designed to connect you with the authentic spirit of Bali.
